After spending most of the 1990s gaining extensive jury trial and appellate experience as a prosecutor and then as a magistrate, Rich joined Davis & Young in 2000 where he focused his practice on insurance coverage (including bad faith), appellate practice and complex litigation.
His transition to private practice brought plenty of recognition. In 2003, he was selected as Ohio’s “Lawyer of the Year” by Ohio Lawyers' Weekly. In 2004, he was elected as a partner in the firm. Since 2005, he has yearly been named as a “Rising Star” by Ohio Super Lawyers/Cincinnati Magazine. He has also maintained the highest possible rating with respect to ethics and ability from his peers in the legal community (“AV”–Martindale Hubbell).
In 2007, after a rigorous credentialing and testing process, he was certified as an “Appellate Specialist” by the Ohio State Bar Association. In his career, he has handled hundreds of appeals in state and federal court, including 9 in the Supreme Court of Ohio.
He is a frequent author and lecturer on legal issues, and is active in local, state and national bar organizations. This includes serving as a Member of the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys in 2008.
Rich completed both his undergraduate and juris doctor at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He is married with three children and resides in Strongsville, Ohio. |
